“Though there are many choices for eye care in the Wyoming Valley, Eye Care Specialists is truly a unique organization,” said Managing Partner Dr. Erik Kruger.
Eye Care Specialists, ranked in the top 2% of ophthalmology practices in the United States, is a team of eye care professionals with training and experience from some of the most prestigious academic centers in the country, including Harvard, Wills Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania , Duke University, and several others.
“It is our goal to bring the quality of these institutions to the Wyoming Valley,” said Kruger.
The doctors at Eye Care Specialists participate in the development and utilization of the most advanced technology available in the world. With the highest quality diagnostic and therapeutic instrumentation, the team matches the right technology with the right patients, often impacting “not only their vision, but their general health.”
“Now the doctors you trust with your eyes can help you hear your world better, too!” said Cheryl Summa, director of marketing. “Our audiologist and hearing instrument specialist will work closely with you to provide hearing examination, diagnosis, and treatment.”
With 25 doctors and 13 locations in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Eye Care Specialists is a large organization that strives to maintain the care and compassion that frequently comes in a smaller office setting.
“The result is a unique blend of hi-tech, state-of-the-art eye care delivered with the intimacy required to address the specific needs of each patient,” Summa added.
In one of its many FDA investigations and clinical trials, Eye Care Specialists was chosen alongside Johns Hopkins University, The Cleveland Clinic, and other institutions to help develop the latest class of medications used for treating macular degeneration– the leading cause of blindness in those over 60 – and diabetic retinopathy. Eye Care Specialists also participated in the clinical development of the leading multifocal intraocular lens of its class. These lenses are implanted after cataract surgery.
“With all of this advanced eye care, however, we pride ourselves in never forgetting that there is a person behind those eyes, and we believe that caring for the person is just as important as caring for their eyes. That is the kind of difference that the doctors at Eye Care Specialists bring to the community,” Kruger concluded. |
