Established in Dallas in 1984, J&J Deli has been passed down through generations and is currently owned and run by John and Heather Wertman. What started out as a small, one-man business managed by John's dad has now grown to include both family and non-family employees. Every day, John is at the deli from open to close, paying close attention to customers and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
The Wertmans describe their deli as offering "quality and quantity for a reasonable price," which is the main reason the deli has been able to stay in business for so long. In fact, J&J Deli is often tagged as "Home of the Big One," referring to its16ft-long subs. The menu also includes wings, salads, and sandwiches.
Through the years, the Wertmans have catered everything from christenings to graduations for a second generation of customers. According to Heather, their client base ranges from the kids who ride in on their bikes for a sandwich to elderly folks looking for a fresh salad.
