Profiles In Business Excellence: Mainstreet Galleries Life is variety and we all enjoy a unique set of experiences and perspectives. The proprietors of Mainstreet Galleries illustrate their perspective through the artwork of internationally recognized artists as well as American craftsmen. The gallery represents a select group of local artists such as Vyacheslav Shevchenko, who hails from Uzbekistan and now resides in Northeastern Pennsylvania. You may wonder why Mainstreet Galleries is located on Pierce Street? The answer is found with the Messinger family, who founded the gallery 35 years ago. As you might have guessed, the gallery initially opened on Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, but this first location suffered destruction at the hands of tropical Storm Agnes in 1972. After the flood, the Messingers reopened their gallery and even expanded to a second location at Kingston Corners. The move to 370 Pierce Street was the result of a consolidation of these two initial spaces, with the original name intact. The Caseys, another arts-centric family, decided to continue the gallery's long-standing tradition of promoting arts and culture in our local community by taking over ownership in March 2006. Siblings Chris, Sally, and Patrick, along with Chris's daughter Eileen, now operate Mainstreet Galleries. No strangers to the business of art, the members of the Casey family have worked at the gallery long before they purchased it. "We're proud to be carrying on the tradition of promoting original art," said Chris. "We design and create all the frames right here on site." The gallery offers expert custom framing services for all your framing needs, in addition to carrying a unique inventory of carefully hand-selected, fine, and decorative artwork. Sally provides corporate and individual consulting services to its customers. The Caseys' intimate approach with their customers includes in-home consultation, ensuring the optimum placement of art pieces and the perfect matching of frames and art with the buyers' decor. At the gallery design table, they work closely with their customers to select the perfect frames and mats that best display selected works of art or valuable family keepsakes. To add more value to the arts community, Mainstreet Galleries is planning to exhibit more local talent through public art shows. The gallery maintains a professional, high-end feel, but it is not stiff and unapproachable as many galleries have been stereotyped. To obtain more information about custom framing, purchasing artwork, consultations, or upcoming exhibitions, contact them at your convenience. A new website is also being added to serve customers better. |
