When your child is sick at 4 a.m. on a Saturday, Pediatric Associates of Kingston can help. Unlike most pediatric offices, Pediatric Associates is open every day of the week and there is always a way to contact a doctor or nurse through the office website, at www.kingstonpeds.com, or through its after-hour call center at (570) 288-6543.
When a child is sick, parents can also use the website to make appointments and retrieve medical information that can help them make decisions about how they can help their child.
Pediatric Associates is a very active and technologically advanced practice that specializes in general pediatrics, asthma conditions, and lactation services, but that’s not all it offers.
“We offer educational programs for our patients and their families,” said J.R. Vaught, practice administrator. “We offer classes like CPR, infant massage, potty training, and general parenting classes.”
The practice has 22 employees, including five physicians, a lactation consultant, and an asthma educator who see between 115-200 patients per day. It currently has more than 15,000 patients and has been in practice for 40 years.
“Last summer, we celebrated our 40th anniversary by holding a fundraiser and carnival for the local Asthma Foundation,” J.R. said. “The two original founding members were physicians who decided to join forces and open a practice in the Wyoming Valley because there was a need for pediatric services.”
The founding physicians no longer work at the practice, but new physicians retained the moniker of the practice as well as many of its traditions. As the practice grew, space became a challenge. The facility became too cramped, so Pediatric Associates consumed the other half of its building and conducted a major renovation last year.
“We now have separate waiting rooms for sick and well patients so the well won’t be exposed to the sneezing and viruses on the sick side,” J.R. said. “We doubled our space and are able to provide an even better atmosphere for our patients.”
Pediatric Associates is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-12 noon. Its doctors are John Gaudio, MD, John Rogers, MD, Michael Harris, MD, Azra Sehic, MD, and Jeffery Kile, MD. For more information about the practice, visit www.kingstonpeds.com.
