All it takes is one step inside Sakari Salon, in Forty Fort, to realize the true meaning of the Japanese word— “to be one’s best.” Customers can feel confident that they will leave there looking and feeling their very best, from head to toe.
Nancy Medico, a licensed cosmetologist teacher herself, created Sakari in November of 2007, and in doing so, amply staffed her new full-service salon with some of the region’s most talented and internationally trained stylists who provide clients with the latest in design and color.
Sakari’s staff receives its education abroad, wherever the latest design classes are offered. Remote classes have already taken place in London, Italy, Jamaica, and Cancun. At last year’s Hairball competition, in Philadelphia, Sakari took home two awards, “Best in Color” and “Best Newcomer.” Not bad for its first outing. Nancy and her staff are looking forward to this year’s event on November 15th.
Clients often begin the Sakari experience with an ultimate facial from one of its licensed estheticians, where they learn the secrets of great skin care and experience some of the highest quality products available in our region. The styling area offers a complete color bar, where the stylists can polish up existing color or custom design one that includes highlighting, lo-lightening, or just a simple glaze. Sakari’s design team will then create a feature-enhancing hairstyle, teach clients about maintenance, and provide the right product and knowledge to re-create that unique look. The final stop is Sakari’s nail tech department, which offers one of several amazing packages.

Sakari’s grand opening last year revolved around Hope Cuts, which donated a all of the day’s proceeds to the City of Hope cancer hospital. This year, Nancy and her team will celebrate their first anniversary in the same manner on November 9th, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
