In this economic climate, many may believe that sales are down and businesses are suffering. Not Amy Lynn Comitz. She and the very small crew at Smart Designs & Graphics believe that sales are on the upswing.
“It’s been fairly crazy,” Amy said. “Wintertime is [usually] my slower time, but this year is definitely different than last. I was scared and quite concerned last winter. Today, sales are up and people are ordering more.”
Smart Designs opened in 2004 by two women. Amy acquired the business while she was working for another organization, taking the reigns in November 2005.
“I previously worked at The Quick Printers in Kingston and loved it,” she added. “The owners of Smart Designs & Graphics came in. They were looking for someone to take over their business, and that’s exactly how it was.”
Signage, graphic design services, and digital and large-scale printing are among some of the many services Smart Designs offers the businesses and individuals of Wyoming Valley.
“I would like to thank them for their continued support,” Amy noted. “We get so caught up in our work that we don’t thank them enough. Again, thank you!”
Amy continues to keep a “family” tradition within Smart Designs, often seeking help from her own family members when business booms.
“Without the support of my husband, Jay, all this would not be possible with two children: Jason, age 8, and Alexandra, age 3.”
The Smart Designs team hopes its customers take away several things from their years of printing services.
“We hope they take away quality service, dealing with the same person, and getting things done on time and correct,” Amy said. “It’s my job to make it look good, and my name is on it. That means a lot to me.”
It appears that Smart Designs has attained its goal. According to Jim O’Connell, from Resource Media, in Kingston, “Amy is great to work with and one of the hardest working people I know. She’s more concerned about the quality of your project than you are. There’s never been a deadline challenge she didn’t meet; and she embodies the spirit of the independent entrepreneur with her attitude towards customer service.”
