Teachers will always be teachers. After receiving an A.B. from King’s College and a Master’s Degree from Marywood University, I started my teaching career at St. Paul’s School in Scranton. After two years at St. Paul’s, my next 33 years were spent at Pittston Area High School. I also taught as an adjunct professor at LCCC, Wilkes University, and King’s College.
Writing is another form of teaching. Before writing for the Independent NEPA Magazine, I wrote political columns for two Pittston newspapers, the Pittston Gazette and the Sunday Dispatch. I am currently the Recording Secretary for the Lithuanian Citizens Social and Beneficial Club and the Third District Democrat Party Committee, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the American Federation of Teachers.
I am happily married to Lorraine Taft Mortimer for the past 35+ years, and the proud father of Lynn Klein, father-in-law of her husband Danny Klein, and grandfather of Grace Kristiana Klein. My hobbies include reading history and current events and being an enthusiastic fan of Notre Dame, the Dallas Mavs, and the Brooklyn-Los Angeles Dodgers.
